Managing Director, Global Head of Business Financial Crime Risk, CIB COO
Russell joined Midland Bank in 1990 as a graduate trainee within the branch network, and subsequently moved into a Head Office customer service role. He then moved into what is now Corporate & Institutional Banking as an Assistant Relationship Manager before transitioning into Relationship Manager roles in the Automotives and Industrials sectors. He has also worked in the global management office for the CIB business and been a Chief Operating Officer for a business segment. He subsequently moved into first line financial crime mitigation and currently is the Global Head of Business Financial Crime Risk for the Corporate & Institutional Banking business. In this role, he leads the teams responsible for maintaining an effective financial crime risk framework, including identification and management of emerging and current risks. The team works closely with the Compliance function, Operations and front line business teams to improve our ability to detect, deter and remove risk from the business.
